Vietnam's fish feed prices likely to increase further

Vietnam's fish feed prices are estimated to continue to increase until the end of the year, according to Duong Ngoc Minh, President of the Freshwater Fish Commission, Association of Seafood Export and Processing of Vietnam (VASEP).

The price of catfish feed is currently at VND12,000-14,500 (US$0.58-0.70) per kilogramme (depending on type, region and mode of payment), reports DanViet.

This is up almost 40% within three months and it is expected to continue to increase in response to rising prices of imports. Some experts say the cause of the higher feed prices is due to inputs from imports which continue to rise.

Around 40% of the component materials in aquatic food are currently imported.
