Uzbekistan reaps 7.17 million tonnes grain in 2012
The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said in his congratulation letter to farmers that the country harvested 7.17 million tonnes of grain in 2012, reported UzDaily.
Uzbek leader Islam Karimov said that recently Uzbekistan was importer of the grain and delivered grain from abroad. After independence, Uzbekistan achieved grain independence and started to export it, he said.
Uzbekistan produced 940,000 tonnes of grain in 1991 and average crop was 17 centners per hectare. He said that this year the crop increased seven times and yielded - three times.
Farmers in Andijan region achieved yield at the size of 62.2 centners, in Bukhara and Ferghana - 58 centners, Samarkand - 55.4 centners, Kashkadarya region - 55 centners, Tashkent region - 54 centners per hectare, Uzbek head stated.
Islam Karimov praised farmers of Altinkul, Pakhtaabad, Izbaskan, Vabkent, Penkun, Giduvan, Kasansay, Nishan, Kasbi, Uchkurgan, Ishtihan, Pastdargom and other districts as their achieved 60-68 centners of yield.
He added that some farmers received 80-97 centners of grain from a hectare and said that earlier Uzbek Grain-growers did not achieve such heights.
President Islam Karimov underlined that 60% of crop or 4.347 million tonnes of grain will remain in disposal of the farmers and they will receive good income.
