Anti-GM group slams Monsanto wheat research
Biotech giant Monsanto has decided to resume its GM wheat research after a five-year hiatus, but Australian anti-GM group Genethics has claimed that the move is a waste of effort.
Genethics claimed that consumers will not accept products containing GM wheat.
Products containing GM wheat would have to be labelled as such, and nobody would buy them, according to Genethics director Bob Phelps.
Monsanto should review worldwide opinion about GM crops and foods and decide, as it did in 2004, that it's simply a bad deal, a bad idea and a waste of money, said Phelps.
