Meat and dairy processing register sterling growth in China's Henan province

 

 

In the first half of 2007, 30 meat processing companies and 18 dairy producers have set up new plants (including some that have upgraded their existing plants) in China's Henan province, adding some 1.08 million tonnes and 0.66 million tonnes in annual meat processing and dairy production capacities respectively.

 

With these increase in production capacities, total output of meat and dairy products from Henan has increased to 5.13 million tonnes and 1.92 million tonnes respectively during the first half of 2007. The production value of the livestock processing industry in the province has reached RMB72.6 billion.

 

Exports of Henan's processed livestock products in the first half of 2007 have brought in some US$200 million in earnings, up 18.4 percent on-year.
