Uzbekistan grain harvest to date up 2.5 percent on-year
Uzbekistan has harvested 6.25 million tonnes of grain to date this year, 2.5 percent more than on the same date last year, the agriculture ministry reported Tuesday (Jul 17).
Wheat accounts for 95 percent of the harvested grain, the rest is rye and barley.
The average yield this year on meliorated land is 4.8 tonnes a hectare, some 4 percent more than last year.
The ministry said this year's grain harvest had been practically completed, with only some 100,000 tonnes of grain left to be harvested in non-meliorated areas, which would be done by the end of August.
This year's grain planted area is 1.286 million hectares, the same as last year.
