China's summer grain output is expected to total 116 million tonnes in 2007, up 2.2 million tonnes, or 1.9 percent, from a year earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture forecast Tuesday (Jul 17).

Of that amount, wheat production is estimated at 103 million tonnes, up 1.67 million tonnes, or 1.6 percent, on-year, the ministry said in a statement published on its website.

China's summer grain output rose for the fourth year in a row, the longest continuous growth since 1985, it said.
