Chinese grain firms buy over 24 million tonnes new wheat
By July 5, the grain operators of China had bought 24.02 million tonnes of new wheat in major producing regions, according to the National Grain and Oil Trade Center on Friday (July 13).
The state-owned firms bought 16.3 million tonnes of wheat, accounting for 68% of the total purchases.
The latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that the country's winter wheat output rose 3.34 million tonnes or 3% to 114.3 million tonnes this year.
As of July 10, China purchased a total of 27.24 million tonnes of wheat from 2012's crop in 11 major rice producing provinces, according to statistics released by the State Grain Administration on July 13th.
State-owned grain enterprises bought 18.66 million tonnes of wheat, accounting for 68% of the total amount.
