China '09 summer grain output up 2.2 percent on-year

China's summer grain output this year rose 2.2 percent to 123.35 million tonnes, the National Bureau of Statistics said Thursday.

The sixth consecutive year of growth was mostly due to an increase in planting acreage, the bureau said in a statement.

Meanwhile, pork output in the first half totalled 23.63 million tonnes, up 8.1 percent, it said.
