Vietnam seafood export earnings fall 11.24 percent
                           


The total Vietnamese seafood export turnover in first 6 months of the year is US$1.69 billion, down by 11.24 percent compared to same period last year; of which frozen shrimp export decreases most.

 

In first half of 2009, shrimp export continues to decline in both quantity and value. In May 2009, quantity of exported shrimp was 13,531 tonnes, down by 1.7 percent and value of shrimp export was more than US$109.5 million, down by 9.1 percent compared to same period last year.

 

In Bac Lieu province only, total processed and exported shrimp quantity in first six months of the year reached 9,740 tonnes, export value US$55.71 million, equivalent to only 31.83 percent of the target.
