Chemvet introduces new revolutionary broiler house
Chemvet, a South African manufacturer of pig and poultry houses, in cooperation with insulation company Technopol, have developed a dome-shaped, highly insulated and completely computerised broiler house.
The Nuway broiler house was tested on the companies' farm in Nigel, South Africa, building four test houses for 40,000 broilers each.
The preliminary results are better than expected, according to Technopol's director Lammie de Beer.
With the Ross788 chicks they managed a 1,57 FCR, significantly better than the 1,77 average in this region, de Beer said.
Chemvet's Nick du Plessis said they produce around 36-37 kg per square metre in conventional houses, but produced about 43 to 43.2 kg in Nuway.
The Nuway broiler house will cost ZAR2.7 million (US$329,825) including all equipment.
