Thailand may distribute corn stocks

Thailand may distribute its one million corn stocks, as Deputy Prime Minister for economic affairs, Korbsak Sabhavasu, plans to push the Cabinet to consider methods for distribution.

Korbsab will request the Cabinet to devise measures for corn distribution after the Government Warehouse Organisation (GWO) failed to get private surveyors to help in moving the grain.

The corn stocks, which had a shelf-life of six to eight months, were still in good condition with the GWO responsible for taking care of the supply, he said.

The task of dispensing the corn will most likely fall to the Ministry of Commerce which will be allowed to set its own prices.
