Belarus temporarily bans pork import from Lithuania
                        


Belarus has temporarily imposed a ban on pork imports from Lithuania after the country reported a case of hog cholera was reported at Pasodele farm in the Panevezys region.

 

When the case was confirmed, the State Food and Veterinary Service of Lithuania imposed a temporary ban on pork exports.

 

The European Commission and the neighbouring countries were informed about the hog cholera and quarantine was announced to prevent the spread of the disease; 445 pigs brought to Lithuania from Denmark were slaughtered.

 

The neighbouring farms were also inspected and laboratory tests are being carried out.
