Below is an abstract of the report:
Reduced supplies and improving demand seen to drive China corn prices higher in July
Hot, dry weather continuing into June affected sowing activities and growth of new corn crops in northern China's Yellow/Huai River production regions. Corn prices in China stayed mostly firm in the month of June.
A less than favourable outlook for corn production this year and poorer harvests are expected to strengthen corn prices in the months ahead. Growing demand from feed millers and livestock producers will also help shore up prices.
This 3-page report includes:
1. Sowing and growth of new corn crops in northern China's Yellow/Huai River production
regions adversely affected by drought
2. Growth of new corn crops in the north-eastern production regions impeded by excessively
wet and cold weather conditions
3. Rapid decline in farmers' corn inventories in the north-eastern production regions
4. Corn demand from feed millers and livestock industries yet to improve
5. Decline in China's regional competitiveness in corn export
