Swine fever suspected in southern Denmark
Danish authorities Thursday (Jul 13) shut down hog exports from the southern part of the country after 40 animals were found dead, possibly from the highly contagious swine fever.
Peter Bagge, head of emergency services for the southern region of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, said testing is underway to ascertain whether the animals in fact died from the disease. Results are due within 48 hours.
