Bunge to buy soy processing plant in Brazil
The world's biggest oilseed processor Bunge has agreed to buy a soybean processing plant from Latin American food processor Perdigao SA, in order to expand its Brazilian soybean processing business.
US-based Bunge will close the plant in Marau, Brazil, in three months and provide jobs for its 68 workers jobs in other places, Perdigao said in a statement. The processing plant has a daily processing capacity to 1,000 tonnes of soybeans.
Perdigao has also signed a licensing agreement with Bunge for its soybean oil brands covering a seven-year period.
In addition, Bunge will supply soybean meal to Perdigao's animal feed plants and operate its silos.
