Japan's Kyoto To Pay For Chicken Farms Hit By Quarantine Measures
The Kyoto prefectural government in Japan said Tuesday it will pay a total of about 5.6 million yen in compensation to chicken farms that temporarily closed or suspended shipments after a bird flu outbreak in a farm in the town of Tamba earlier this year.
The payments are separate from the central government's compensation package for affected farms, which include Takada chicken farm. It was believed to have got secondary bird flu infection from the farm run by Asada Nosan Co in late February.
