Kansas' wheat production expected to decrease

Kansas' wheat output is predicted at 273 million bushels, up 4% from June 1 forecast, but decreasing 24% from last year's crop.

It is the lowest production since 2002.

Acres harvested were 7.8 million acres, down 200,000 acres from a year ago and the smallest area harvested since 1957.

Yield per harvested acre is expected to average 35 bushels, up one bushel from the June forecast, but down 10 bushels from the 2010 yield. This would be the lowest yield since 2007.
