Voloac opens new extension in whey processing facility
Volac has opened a new GBP8 million (US$13 million) extension to its whey processing facilities at Felinfach, Lampeter in Wales.
The investment, supported by GBP1.5 million (US$2.4 million) of Welsh Assembly funding, includes a new plant that will produce lactose, an ingredient sold to the food processing market. The site's total output has been increased by 50 percent to 50,000 tonnes.
The new site will enable Volac to expand its business to include lactose production, which is great news for both the Ceredigion area and the Welsh dairy sector generally, said Welsh Assembly minister for rural affairs, Elin Jones, at the opening on July 7.
