Soy-enhanced meat makes its debut in US retail markets
Florida-based Natural Harmony Foods, a producer and marketer of soy protein enhanced meat products, announced that the company's SoLean brand meat products have been approved for sale in one of the largest grocery chains in the US.
The chain is the third leading US grocer to carry the SoLean brand.
The approval broadens the reach and exposure for SoLean brand products, a company news release said.
The brand is currently available in approximately 800 supermarket locations in the south-eastern US. At present, the line consists of SoLean Flame-Broiled Beef Patties and SoLean Breakfast Pork Patties.
According to Natural Harmony Foods, SoLean uses meat from animals raised without growth-promoting hormones and fed an all-vegetable diet with soy protein. The company said the end result is a product low in fat, saturated fat, calories and cholesterol.
