US state winter wheat production up from 2009
Idaho's expected winter wheat production is 64.4 million bushels, up 14% from last year, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Harvested acreage of winter wheat is expected to total 740,000 acres, 40,000 acres more than last year.
Yield, as of July 1, is expected to be 87 bushels per acre, up six bushels from last year. Producers with spring wheat are expected to harvest 540,000 acres, up 10,000 acres from 2009. Average yield is estimated at 80 bushels per acre, three bushels more than 2009. Spring wheat production is forecast at 43.2 million bushels, an increase of 6% from 2009.
Harvested acreage, at 480,000 acres, is 30,000 acres less than last year. The expected yield of 95 bushels per acre is unchanged from last year and equals our record high. Oat production is expected to be 1.56 million bushels, down 20% from last year. Oat yield for grain, at 78.0 bushels per acre, is unchanged from last year. Acreage harvested for grain, at 20,000, is down 5,000 acres from last year.
For the United States, winter wheat production is forecast at 1.51 billion bushels, up 2% from last month but down 1% from 2009. The US yield is forecast at 46.9 bushels per acre, up 0.3 bushel from last month and up 2.7 bushels from last year.
Other spring wheat production is forecast at 607 million bushels, 4% above 2009. The US yield is forecast at 44.6 bushels per acre, 0.5 bushel below 2009.
