Australian beef producers to hold industry crisis forum
A central Queensland cattle producer said the Australian beef industry is in crisis, and will hold a forum this week to address problems.
Gracemere grazier Graeme Acton will hold a forum at Paradise Lagoons near Rockhampton this week to address some of the problems that beef producers are facing. He said the forum could navigate a way forward.
"There are two issues we really need to focus on; the high costs that are eroding the profitability in this industry and the low price we're getting for our commodities," he said.
"It's not only the beef industry, it's in all agricultural industries and I call it all food producing industries," Acton said.
Acton said the forum on Friday (July 16) will discuss ways to improve the future of the country's beef producers.
"I think that's what we need to do in this industry, somebody needs to take a good look at the direction in which it's going and focus on trying to improve it," he added.
