China's 2012 grain yield to hit 571.59 million tonnes

China Agriculture Consultant (CnAgri) anticipates that the country's 2012 grain production will reach 571.59 million tonnes, 0.07% higher against the previous year.

As shown by results of a survey conducted by CnAgri in the first half of this year, national planting area of grain is around 111.464 million ha (1 ha = 10,000 square meters), increasing by 0.81% from last year. That of wheat is 24.403 million ha, up 1.28% from last year. Total wheat output will be roughly 116.44 million tonnes.

Predicted planting area of corn is 34.917 million ha and yearly total output may hit 199.1 million tonnes. Planting area of rice is 30.404 million ha, with unit output being 6,668 kilogrammes per ha and the total output being 202.73 million tonnes, separately up 0.62%, 0.63% and 1.26% from last year. As for barley, the planting area is 723,000 ha, increasing by 16.3%. Barley output is expected to reach 2.451 million tonnes.
