Russia to curb meat imports on safety concerns
The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Plant Control (Rosselkhoznadzor) will curb meat imports from a number of foreign companies, spokesman Aleksey Alekseyenko said.
Alekseyenko explained that the reason for this is the discovery of banned and harmful substances in meat delivered by some companies from the EU, Latin America and Australia.
Russia's meat imports from some EU producers will be limited from July 15 2008; as for Latin American and Australian producers, the sanctions will come into force on July 21, 2008, Rosselkhoznador said.
