Alltech to launch mycotoxin information website
Press release
Alltech is set to launch a new mycotoxin information website (www.KnowMycotoxins.com) on Jul 16, 2007, which aims to educate various market segments in the animal feed industry that are continuously challenged with the task of overcoming the repercussions of mycotoxins on feed and ultimately livestock performance.
The website is interactive by allowing the audience to participate in discussion forums and web casts with industry experts. It targets all stakeholders in the animal feed industry including livestock producers, nutritionists and veterinarians by providing them all necessary information to identify and deal with the growing mycotoxin issue.
Dr Pearse Lyons, Alltech President, said, "Our goal is to deliver the latest technical and practical information to those who are searching for ways to maintain animal health."
25 percent of the world's grains were contaminated by mycotoxins in 1985. This can have a detrimental impact on animal health and cost the livestock industry thousands of dollars every year in lost grains.
The global impact of mycotoxins has been recognised by governing institutions throughout the world and only recently, the European Commission of the EU introduced a new legislation on 'The recommendation for mycotoxins in products intended for animal feeding,' in order to limit mycotoxin levels in grains.
