Merger forms DT Cremer, Germany's largest feedmiller
deuka Deutsche Tiernahrung and Cremer Futtermuehlen have teamed up to form Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer to become Germany's biggest feedmiller with an annual production of 2.4 million tonnes of compound feed.
The merger is the final agreement of the two company's already existing cooperation under the Cremer roof. The merger takes its retroactive effect from 1 January of 2007.
The merger took place in the central administration in Dusseldorf, in purchasing and increasingly in production.
The well-known brands of Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer (DTC) - deuka on the one side and Club, Rekord, ReCo and Nordkraft on the other - will be continued by the new group and customers can still contact the former individual companies.
Managing director Hans Thiemann said the new company can utilise specific strengths and to prevent double work to fully optimise size advantages and care for customers to become more efficient.
DT Cremer yearly manufactures 2.35 million tonnes of compound feed in 12 plants and has an annual turnover of 450 million euros. DTC also manufactures specialty feeds in other European countries and South Korea.
The new enterprise is market leader in Germany followed by Agravis (2.1 million tonnes) and Broering Group (1.0 million tonnes). DTC ranks no. 7 in European feed manufacturing and no. 20 on global feed industry.
Meanhwile, Bernd Fink, managing director of deuka for many years and one of the brains of the merger is going into well-deserved retirement effective 30 September 2007.
Ulrich Arning and Dr Dietrich Schwier, both co-workers for many years at deuka, will succeed him and together with Hans Thiemann and Helmut Wulf take up the management of the group.
