Iran denies sending spoiled food to Iraq

Iran has denied Iraqi claims that it had deliberately exported spoiled chicken and food to the country, the local media reported.

Iran's attache to Iraq, Janali Halvaie disclaimed Iraqi newspaper reports that three truckloads of spoiled meat had been distributed to various points in Iraq.

The necessary licenses had been obtained for the products which transported by trucks equipped with cold storage facilities, Halvaie said.

Newspapers said the meat was transported to Iraq by common trucks with a temperature of 45 deg C.

Officials in Iraq have also refuted the newspaper reports.

Iran exported US$300 million worth of food products to Iraq last year without a single complaint, Halvaie noted.
