Kazakhstan's grain production expected to reach 14.5 million tonnes
The government of Kazakhstan expects the 2010 grain harvest at 14.5-15.5 million tonnes, according to the Vice-Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Arman Evniev.
In 2009, Kazakhstan has collected a record 21 million tonnes of grain.
He noted that factors for the anticipated decrease this year include dry weather and a substantial decline in the area of grain crops. Meanwhile, the vice-minister predicted that in the next marketing year, average grain and flour exports will reach 6.5 million tonnes.
