Fonterra's milk collection in New Zealand rises 10.1% during June 2014

Fonterra's milk collection in New Zealand have reached nine million kilogrammes of milk solids during June 2014.

The figure represents a 10.1% rise over the same period last year.

Collection in the North Island has reached seven million kilogrammes, 13% ahead of June 2013. Volumes in the North Island were up on last season as more farmers continued to milk in winter.

South Island collection has reached two million kilogrammes, 2% ahead of June last year. A small number of South Island farmers provided milk in winter for internal supply.

Milk collection at Fonterra's Australian operation for the 12 months to June 30 reached 120 million kilogrammes, meeting the same level as the previous season, despite being down considerably in spring.

Fonterra's Australian production increased during the second half due to more favourable market and pasture growing conditions, along with additional farms which supply the cooperative. As a result, the collection there was 16% ahead of June 2013.
