China fishmeal imports up 17.8 percent in May

According to the General Administration of Customs, China imported 138,454 tonnes of fishmeal in May 2005, up 17.8 percent from the previous month, and a 184.7 percent year-on-year increase.

The May imports came mostly from:

Peru:          74,231 tonnes;

Chile:         36,859 tonnes;

USA:          9,662 tonnes.

From January to May 2005, China's fishmeal imports totalled 525,345 tonnes.
