Taiwan acquires US wheat from Columbia Grain
The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association Thursday (July 5) purchased 44,250 tonnes of wheat from US-based Columbia Grain Inc. for August 17-31 delivery, trading executives said.
The association bought 21,000 tonnes of Dark Northern Spring grade at US$385.75 a tonne, free on board; 13,250 tonnes of Hard Red Winter at US$345.14/tonne, FOB; and 10,000 tonnes of Western White at US$306.51/tonne, also FOB, they said.
The association's import prices for high-quality milling wheat are widely considered benchmarks in the Asian grain trade even though it buys relatively small volumes.
