China sees summer grain output at 1.22 million tonnes; up for six straight years
China has harvested 80 percent of summer wheat and is expected to achieve grain output rise for the sixth year running, the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) said.
MOA projects the country's summer grain output will exceed 1.22 million tonnes this year.
The planting area for the country's summer grain crops this year is predicted to increase 486,000 hectares over last year while the average yield will keep the level of last year, noted Sun Zhengcai, minister of MOA
Meanwhile, China has finished rapeseed harvest, with the output expected to hit a record high of 13 million tonnes.
After bumper harvests of summer grain and oilseeds, efforts are underway for early rice and autumn grain to achieve stable grain production for the whole year, added Sun.
The planting area for early rice this year rises above 133,000 hectares over the previous year.
