Hypor concludes acquisition of Shade Oak Swine Ltd

Hypor Inc. has concluded its acquisition of the high health purebred nucleus herd of Canadian-based purebred Duroc breeder, Shade Oak Swine Ltd.

 

Included in the acquisition are all AI boars owned by Shade Oak Ltd and located at various third party AI stations and all related intellectual property rights.  Additionally Hypor has entered into a distribution agreement with Shade Oak's boar stud division known as Total Swine Genetics (TSG). 

 

Gerjan van Alst, General Manager, Hypor North America sees the purchase as a perfect fit with the Hypor terminal sire line programme further strengthening the company's position as a key supplier of preferred swine genetics.

 

With the acquisition of the Shade Oak Duroc, Hypor will now have one of the most significant Duroc gene pools in North America, said van Alst, adding that the company is looking forward to exporting the product worldwide.

 

Durocs can provide producers with a strong, fast growing and uniform animal, and offers high meat quality, according to Eric Aubin, Manager, Sales and Marketing Canada.

 

Arnold Ypma, former president of Shade Oak Swine Ltd. will continue to have influence on the development Hypor's Duroc sire line having been appointed to the Hypor Sire Line Genetic Advisory Committee.
