Russian Jan-May meat imports down 27 percent on-year
Russia's meat imports fell 27 percent on the year to 399,200 tonnes in January-May, the Federal Customs Service said Monday (July 7).
In monetary terms, the imports fell to US$1.309 billion from US$1.511 billion, the service said.
Russia's poultry imports decreased 33 percent on the year to 308,400 tonnes in physical terms and fell to US$334.7 million from US$420 million in monetary terms in the period, while fish imports decreased to 344,500 tonnes worth US$502.1 million from 381,300 tonnes worth US$604.4 million, according to the service.
In 2008, Russia's meat imports rose 14.2 percent on the year to 1.619 million tonnes, the service said earlier.
