China wholesale pork price drops 2 percent in June
China's average pork wholesale price dropped by 1.85 percent on-month in June, according to the Market Operations Department of the Ministry of Commerce.
Wholesale prices fell in medium and large Chinese cities with a decrease rate of 2.6 percentage points. Retail prices of lean pork and belly pork also fell 0.5 percent and 0.48 percent respectively over May.
The price drop was due to the resumption of normal operations by the live pig breeding industry and a declining pork consumption in the summer.
