Danisco's new service maximises profitability from phytase use in broiler diets
Press release
Danisco Animal Nutrition has recently launched Phycheck, an innovative new service that offers feed manufacturers and broiler producers the opportunity to maximise feed cost savings when using their new generation phytase product - Phyzyme XP.
At the core of the service is a unique software programme which calculates customer-specific matrix values for phosphorus, calcium, amino acids and energy according to phytase dose rate, dietary phytate level and bird age. By using these scientifically proven matrix values, nutritionists can optimise their use of Phyzyme XP - Danisco's new generation E. Coli phytase - to maximise feed cost savings.
The new service was developed from extensive bird digestibility and performance trials conducted in the US, Canada, Brazil, UK and Australasia, that contributed a total of over 100 individual data points. The software matrix values and dose recommendations were subsequently validated in trials at Auburn University, US, and the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service (ADAS), UK.
Dr Gary Partridge, Danisco's global technical director, commented, "Traditional use of fixed nutrient matrix values for phytase in feed formulation fail to acknowledge that the response to phytase varies according to factors such as dietary phytate level, bird age and phytase dose."
"This new service has been developed to help nutritionists obtain maximum economic value from phytase in their feeds, without risk of compromising bird performance. According to latest feed ingredient prices, and assuming 'simple' corn-soymeal-based diets, producers in the US can reduce net feed costs by about US$6/tonne. That represents an additional US$1.50-2.00/tonne compared with using traditional fungal phytases and associated fixed matrix values for calcium, phosphorus, energy and amino acids", he added.
Danisco Animal Nutrition, a division of leading global food ingredient specialist Danisco A/S (Denmark), pioneered the development and use of enzymes and betaine in animal nutrition. Its products are now widely used by poultry and pig producers throughout the world. The company's mission is to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that increase the efficiency and safety of the food production chain in an environmentally responsible way.
