Vietnam's farm exports to hit US$9.2 billion in H2

Vietnam has been forecast to earn US$9.2 billion from exports of agricultural, forestry and seafood products from July-December this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday (Jul 5).

The exports of farm produce for the whole year could reach US$19 billion, compared to US$19.15 billion last year, the ministry said.

Export prices of Vietnam-sourced agricultural products are forecast at high level but may be lower than those in the first half, the ministry said.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), meanwhile, has revised its forecasts on Vietnam's exports of agricultural, forestry and seafood products in 2011 up to US$23 billion from earlier estimate of US$19.5 billion.

The revise was made amid high prices of Vietnam's farm produce on the global market, the ministry said.

The MARD also estimated that the country's exports of farm produce rose 38.7% from a year earlier to US$12 billion in the first half.
