Carp disease outbreak confirmed in UK
UK's agricultural authority Defra has imposed movement restriction on fish from a North Yorkshire fishery following the confirmation of Spring Viraemia of Carp (SVC) at the site.
Defra has issued a Designated Area Order prohibiting the movement of fish to and from The Willows, Hessay, York, North Yorkshire.
SVC is a serious viral disease that affects carp and other fish species. It has no effect on human health.
Defra has issued an alert for the disease nationwide and fish farms or owners with detected cases of the disease were required to notify Defra.
