Marfrig Group announces changes within leadership

Food company, Marfrig Group, has announced the organisational division of the Marfrig Beef Segment into two operational units, namely, Brazil and Southern Cone.

Andrew Murchie will retain his position as CEO of Marfrig Beef Brazil.

Effective September 1, 2013, Martín Secco will be appointed CEO of Marfrig Beef Southern Cone (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Rio Grande do Sul of Brazil, and Pampeano).

The CEOs report directly to Sérgio Rial, who will be made CEO of Marfrig Group by January 1, 2014. Rial's future position is currently occupied by Marcos Molina, who will be appointed as chairman of the board of directors.

With 20 years of experiences in the beef industry, Murchie has been CEO of Marfrig Beef Brazil since February 2012. He joined the company in 2003, and was formerly the commercial director for the Marfrig Beef in Brazil.

He was previously with Anglo Alimentos S.A., BF Alimentos and Friboi Group.

Secco has been with Mafrig since the company took over operations in Uruguay, through the acquisition of Frigorifico Tacuarembó, which once belonged to his family. He has 25 years of experiences in the beef industry and was responsible for Mafrig's operations in Uruguay and Chile since 2007.

James Cruden, CEO of the Marfrig Beef Division for South America, will retire after nine years with Mafrig Group, having played a fundamental role in the growth of the company's beef, lamb and leather businesses.

He will serve his remaining term until August 31, 2013.
