East Kazakhstan Region reports foot and mouth outbreak

 

 

Due to an outbreak of foot and mouth disease of cattle, quarantine has been introduced in East Kazakhstan Region's Urjar District, the press service of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry has reported.

 

"On July 2, an urgent message was received on suspicion of foot and mouth disease among vaccinated cattle in Urjar District's Karatal rural area. In all, 63 heads of cattle with clinical signs of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) were discovered," the report said.

 

The report said that last Wednesday (June 27), this diagnosis was confirmed by laboratory testing. "The hot spot of disease will be put in quarantine and liquidation measures will be taken," the report said.
