Kazakhstan ups 2012 grain export to China
Kazakh Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov said on Wednesday (July 4) that Kazakhstan considerably increased grain export to China in 2012.
"Grain exports to China are growing. Its volume hit 128,800 tonnes during five years of 2012 as of June 1," Mamytbekov wrote in his microblog in Twitter. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan exported only 13,500 tonnes to China in January-December 2011, the Minister said. Kazakhstan is among the world's major grain exporters. In 2011 the country raised a record harvest of nearly 27 million tonnes of grain in net weight. Export potential was estimated at 15 million tonnes.
