Hundreds of dead poultry eaten in Thailand
Hundreds of domestic poultry which died of unknown causes in a village in northern Thailand last week were cooked and eaten, local medical officials reported on Tuesday (Jul 4).
Public health officials in the northern province of Phichit have renewed precautionary measures against bird flu after hundreds of chickens died from unknown causes.
Local health officials have warned villagers not to eat sick chickens and advised them to use rubber gloves when handling the poultry to prevent the spread of possible bird flu virus.
Samples of the dead poultry have been sent for testing and authorities are awaiting results.
