Pakistan Bans Indian Wheat Imports

Pakistan has decided to ban import of wheat from India, due to it reportedly being infected with 'kernal' bunt disease, a government official told the Daily Times on Thursday.

According to the paper, the decision was taken at a meeting at the Prime Minister's Secretariat.

Senior officials of the country's ministry of food and agriculture reportedly briefed the new premier Shujaat Hussain about the hazards of wheat import from India.

This was the second similar decision taken by the Pakistan government in past two days. On Wednesday Pakistan had decided to ban the import of certain goods from India, if not imported under the terms of the relevant import trade procedure.
