Bulgaria reaps 9.8% of total wheat acreage
As the average yield stands at 4.07 tonnes per hectare, Bulgaria has harvested 109,000 hectares of fields under wheat, or 9.8% of the total wheat area, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday (July 3).
The yield ranges between 3.11 and 4.87 tonnes/hectare, as it is highest in the regions of Pleven and Razgrad, in northern Bulgaria, the ministry said in a press release.
Last year, Bulgaria harvested 4.25 million tonnes from 99.4% of fields put under wheat.
In early June the agriculture ministry said it expects to harvest about 3.8-3.9 million tonnes this year.
