Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd, one of China's top-ranking dairy product makers, announced lately that its dairy product plant in Yinchuan, Ningxia Autonomous Region, started production.

The project, the first production base launched by the Inner Mongolia-based company in Ningxia, will enable Mengniu Dairy to complete its deployment nationwide. The new plant, covering a land of 195 mu (1 mu = 667 square metres), is one of the most automated and smartened Mengniu Dairy plants.

The plant, equipped with nine state-of-art production lines, makes a series of high-end liquid milk and milk beverage products under brands such as Deluxe, said Yang Wenjun, chief executive officer for the company, noting that the plant is able to make 900 tonnes of products a day.

Mengniu Dairy dipping toe in Ningxia by buying source milk in 2005, takes Yinchuan as one of its crucial regional markets for its push in the western part of the country.
