Canadian Grain Commission announces new food class of Barley

 

 

The introduction of new food class of Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern that will take effect on July 1, 2012 has been announced by the Canadian Grain Commission.

 

At the same time, the hulless class for Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern will be removed. Hulless and covered grades will be included for all classes of barley: food, malting and general purpose.

 

Other grading changes that take effect July 1, 2012, include: Revised Cleaning for Grade Improvement procedure for Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern. For Lentils, Canada Red: New colour definition, new tolerances for copper and bleached; seeds: New wrinkled seed tolerances, Revised heated tolerances in Canada Eastern Feed Wheat.
