Bad weather devastates North Dakota's cattle herd
North Dakota ranchers have lost about US$30 million worth of calf to flooding and blizzards, according to a USDA official.
Ranchers should be receiving disaster payments in mid-July, said Agriculture Department Undersecretary James Miller.
In March and April, flooding following late-winter blizzards killed about 90,000 cattle in North Dakota, including about 72,000 calves.
