Russia grain shipper to upgrade infrastructure

Rusagrotrans, a major Russian grain transport, plans to invest about US$100 million in upgrading transport infrastructure in southern Russia.

The investment would boost grain shipments from its existing terminals in the region to 3,500 tonnes per day, Rusagrotrans said.

The infrastructure project will provide an opportunity to compete with leading global players, said deputy chief executive Oleg Rogachyov.

Rusagrotrans will also reorganise grain shipments by rail in order to increase volumes and win a larger share of export shipments, which were equal in volume to shipments by road last year.
