Nigeria detects H5N1 bird flu in Taraba
Health authorities have detected the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus in another Nigeria state, bringing to 14 the number of states now affected in Africa's most-populous nation, state radio said Friday (Jun 30).
The H5N1 strain was documented in three municipalities in north-eastern Taraba state and health officials were working to contain the outbreak, state radio said.
Nigeria, with 36 states, reported Africa's first case of the H5N1 bird flu virus in February.
