Egypt's cotton exports up 12%

Due to the lower prices of Egyptian cotton, the country's cotton exports reached 355,700 metric kantars during the period December 2011-February 2012 against 317,500 kantars during the same period last year, up 12%, according to the fourth annual report of Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Egypt imported 56,100 kantars of cotton in 2012 against 317,500 kantars in 2011 due to the increase of local cotton production.
