Ukraine's April potassium chloride imports up 2.3 folds

 

 

Ukraine's imports of potassium chloride in April grew 2.3 times or by 11,886 tonnes to 20,682 tonnes for US$9.129 million, compared with the same period last year, the State Statistics Service has informed.

 

In April, potassium chloride imports went up by 27.5% or 4,497 tonnes compared to March.

 

In January-April 2012, comparing with January-April 2011, imports of potassium chloride decreased by 5.1% or 2,814 tonnes to 51,980 tonnes for US$22.569 million (54,794 tonnes for US$21.486 million in January-April 2011).

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in March 2012 imports of potassium chloride compared with March 2011 fell by 34.4% or 8,581 tonnes and made up 16,365 tonnes for US$7.130 million.

 

In 2011, imports of potassium chloride went up 1.7 times or by 92,351 tonnes to 234,166 tonnes for US$100.571 million (141,815 tonnes for US$47.804 million in 2010).

 

The Ukrkalii company is the major importer of potassium chloride into Ukraine.

 

Potassium chloride is used as a fertiliser and as raw material for production of potassium sulphate, potassium nitrate, and fertiliser mixtures.
